Sword Principals and Form
|

The dao or broadsword is more commonly known as the knife, whereas the double- edged jian
is known as the sword. Michael and Shellee will be covering basic and advanced concepts of the single edged knife.
This will be a continuation of the last sword class and will serve to reinforce the concepts covered,
improve, and expand upon the exercises shown previously. The exercises will pertain to the form that was
also covered in the last class. There will of course be discussion on application of cutting, slicing,
piercing, shaving, butting, splitting, wrapping, pressing and lifting.
All levels are welcome and the exercises will be suitable for beginner to advanced practitioners. So bring your
sword and be prepared to work.

Concepts For Effective Self Defense: Direction & Intent

There are many important aspects to effective self defense. In this seminar, Master Voelker will cover two
inter-related aspects; direction and intention.
You will learn how applying specific types of direction to your strikes, body mechanics, take downs and throws
are all vital to effective hand-to-hand. You will also increase your skill set by understanding how important
intent is during execution of your technique.

In Part II of this Three Part Series. Master Juan Meza will continue to share more Baton Drills
& Techniques as taught by Grandmaster Jimmy H. Woo as well as teach you how to incorporate this practical weapon
into your arsenal of hand-to-hand techniques.
You will also learn how baton and empty-handed techniques relate to each other and how studyinig
one of them increases your ability in the other. Master Meza will review the foundation established in Part I and
include new and challenging concepts.
Master Meza's knowlege of the baton is well known and respected in the San Soo
community so you will not want to miss this opportunity.
